Gallery Wild is excited to present a new body of work by artist Carrie Penley. Her solo show titled “The Vintage West” showcases iconic wildlife portraits in her signature mixed media style.  Penley’s use of vintage sheet music, magazines and newspapers initiates a dialog with the viewer and invites them to spend time engaging with her subjects. In combination with the base of collage, her expressive painting style builds texture and depth in her compositions. Layers of color in both neutral and vibrant palettes give her mixed media work a beautifully balanced dynamism.  As a storyteller, Carrie Penley’s creative exploration and personality can be seen throughout “The Vintage West” collection. Pulling titles from words and phrases found in the various print materials threaded into her paintings, she keeps the viewer immersed in the details, but also guides them to notice the overarching connections between past and present.
